Choosing a Home Security Company

It seems like robberies and break-ins are in the paper or on the news all the time. You're smart to be concerned about your own welfare and that of your family. You also want to protect your house and your belongings. For this reason, you may be considering buying a home security system or a burglar alarm.

There are do-it-yourself systems and there are professionally installed systems. Most DIY systems aren't worth a lot, because they're easy for burglars to thwart, and they aren't monitored (if someone breaks in, you won't know until after all your stuff is gone). Oh, you can install timers for your lights, motion sensors for your yard, and upgraded locks for your doors and windows, but if you want to feel truly secure, you may feel safest investing in a monitored home security system.

Monitored systems are installed and watched by professional security companies. When the alarm is tripped they'll send someone over to investigate or call the police, depending on the plan you sign up for. They'll also help you maintain your system year in and year out.

As you might have guessed, they're going to charge you for this. Expect to pay an installation fee, which will cover the cost of the equipment and the labor to set it all up. You will also have to pay monthly fees as long as you want them to monitor your home. (One bonus is that this expenditure can actually lower your homeowner's insurance, since many insurers will discount their premiums for more secure homes.)

Because installing a monitored alarm systems represents an ongoing investment, you want to make sure to find an alarm company you'll be happy with. Let's take a look at some tips:

--Choose a security system that will accommodate your lifestyle and protect your valuables.

--Ask friends, relatives, and neighbors for recommendations. You can also ask your insurance company for suggestions of reputable companies.

--Buy from a company that offers good customer service and technical support.

--Choose a company that is a member of the Better Business Bureau.

--Get written estimates from at least three companies before you decide on one (but keep in mind prices for security systems vary dependent on equipment features and the level of monitoring offered--compare systems to like systems).

--Find out whether or not the company screens employees before hiring them. You want trusted people installing your system, since they'll have access to your passwords and security codes.

--Check to see if the company is licensed and is a member of the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association.

--Ask about guarantees and warrantees to see what's available. Make sure you're protected in case a piece of equipment malfunctions.

--Ask if the alarm systems have backups, including batteries in case the power goes out or radio in case the telephone lines are cut.

--Lastly, make sure to read the fine print of the contract. Find out if there is a cancellation policy (it's not a good idea to get locked into a years-long contract--you may decide you'd be happier with another company after it's too late to change without amassing fees).

Home Security - Protect Your Children Online - Part 3

Steps to Keep Your Kids Safe - What Can and Can't Be Done

Home security is about protecting your family, and the most overlooked means of entry is sitting in your living room...your computer...this article discusses the Commission for the Online Protection of Children's recommended steps to keeping your children safe online... home security system, alarm, camera

There are many steps we could take to protect our children from unsuitable materials we see in everyday life. We could hide the newspaper from them so that they won't see any articles or advertisements, throw away the television, trash the VCR, etc. Obviously, these are not the types of steps we want, nor should take. The Internet is a vast resource of good information for our children to use and to grow by. However, those sites and publishers of adult material know this also, and have a very powerful weapon at there disposal to use when the screws are tightened for them to clean up their act. That tool is the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.

The First Amendment, for those of you who have been out of 8th grade Civics class for a while, gives Americans the right of free speech. This amendment does not state that we have the right to free, and suitable, speech; the right to speech suitable to all Americans, the right of speech that does not include pornography. This is what the adult entertainment industry uses as their defense to all encroachments on their ability to market and sell their materials. Government has been effective in a couple areas of entertainment in at least providing consumers with information that content may not be suitable for children as in movie ratings and parental advisory stickers on music. However, this does not prevent young children from purchasing or viewing this type of material. It also does not provide recourse back to the seller for this material being available for use to children.

The COPC has reviewed how other industries handle this problem, and have incorporated these same processes into their recommendations. There is currently software available to consumers that may be installed on your computer to block specific content from the Internet. This software will also provide reports that show attempts made to access sites. Some software will also allow access to sites to the point where explicit material is accessed, kicking the user off the Internet when that area is reached. This process is effective to a point. That point is where it interferes with the ability for a young user to gain valuable and useful information on a topic the software may see as offensive, including research on breast cancer (breast is a "lockout" word), other forms of reproductive cancers, etc. This type of material we want our children to be able to access. The software does not make it easy to add/remove words such as this, so it becomes a complex issue. The recommendation has also been made to add rating designations to websites. This presents basically the same issues experienced in the entertainment industry, with one exception. It is hard to verify that the person actually sitting at the computer is under 18 years of age. With the knowledge most of our children have today, it is not difficult to circumvent the system.

The COPC has also made recommendations to add domain names that reflect the content being marketed or distributed by the sites. This would include domains such as .XXX or .SEX for adult entertainment sites. Again, the First Amendment argument arises in that these domain names make it easier to filter out this material which they are free to distribute. It would also provide an unwanted designation on the site that would make it more recognizable as an adult entertainment site and drop the number of hits to the page. Recently this was rejected by the ICANN board in a 9 to 5 vote. The adult entertainment industry opposed it as "increased state control" &, oddly enough, anti-pornography advocates also opposed, believing it "legitimizes an illegitimate industry..."

In the last article in this series, I'll state what the commission's final recommendation is, as well as what other advocacy groups have to say on this issue.

Common Sense Home Security Tips

Is it just me, or do we spend more time worrying about the safety of our computers these days than the safety of our own homes? You've got firewalls and virus protection for your CPU, but have you changed your door locks since you moved into your house? Do you have ladders, tools, and other things lying around your yard that a burglar could use to break a window and access your home? Do you have an alarm system you never arm? Windows you leave open? Doors left unlocked? When was the last time you walked around your house and, thinking like a burglar, considered just how easy it would be to break in? Yeah, that's what I thought.

Let's take a look at some smart security tips that can help make your home safer for you and your family. And guess what? Most of them are easier to implement than the security software loaded on your computer.

First off, remember that in general burglars will avoid occupied houses. That doesn't mean your family is always safe when they're home, however. There always exceptions to the rule, and you shouldn't assume that nothing can ever happen just because someone is there. If a burglar breaks in while you're not there, your belongings are at risk. If a burglar breaks in when your family is home, your family is at risk as well.

Now that I've got you thinking, let's look at some measures you can follow in order to minimize the risk of being targeted.

Keys: Don't hand out keys to friends, even if they're trustworthy. Make sure you know the location of all your house keys all the time. Never use hide-a-keys or leave the key under the doormat, above the door, in a flowerpot, or anywhere outside the house. You may think you're being clever, but guess what? Burglars know all the tricks. It's their job to (however despicable). Also, it's a good idea to keep your car keys and house keys on a different ring if you ever use valet parking or leave your keys with parking lot attendants or even at a repair garage.

Don't let strangers in the house: Adults have no problem telling this rule to their kids, but they don't realize it should apply to them too! Home security means being cautious. Even before you open the front door to accept a package, you should ask for photo identification. This goes for anyone you don't recognize. Don't assume someone is "legit" just because they are wearing a uniform or driving some company's truck (these things can be stolen). If somebody comes to your door and asks to make a phone call, offer to make it for them, but don't let them some inside. If someone looks like they're injured, call 911, but don't open the door. When you walk away to make that call, lock the door behind you; you don't want to leave the door unlocked and unmanned. A chain on the door helps insure people can't force their way in while you're home.

Locks: Keep your doors and windows locked, even if you're at home. Get your children into this habit, too. It's too easy to forget an open window when you leave the house, and that provides an easy way in for burglars. Don't assume a second story window is out of reach for a thief. They're good at finding ways in.

Don't be predictable: If you always leave home at the same time every day and return at the same time, thieves can easily memorize your routine to take advantage of the times you're not at home. Work is work, and you probably can't change those hours, but if you always go to a class or the grocery store at the same time, try to make yourself less predictable. You can also consider automatic timers for your lights and electronics, to make it seem when someone is home, even when they're not.

Valuables shouldn't be on display: I know you want to show off your hard-won plasma TV, but if somebody can look in your window and see your wallet, credit cards, purse, jewelry, or fancy electronics in open sight, they're going to be tempted. A computer or television placed in front of a ground-floor window may make an easy target. Likewise, electronics placed across from a window are easily visible, too. In a similar vein, don't leave your garage doors open for the world to see all the cool stuff you have in storage. Lightweight items could be snatched away quickly and easily.

Be mindful of your trash: Just bought a new entertainment system? There's no need to tell the world about it. A bunch of empty boxes out by the curb is an open invitation to would-be burglars. Instead of putting boxes out in plain sight, cut them down, and stuff them in trash bags. Also be wary of identity theft. Never put personal identification information in your trash until it's been shredded.

Be alert: Try to be aware of your surroundings on a day-to-day basis, even in your own neighborhood. This doesn't mean walking around like a crazy paranoid person; just get in the habit of watching for suspicious activity.

Paying attention to the simple things can make you and your family much less of a target. Burglar alarms and home security systems are great investments, but common sense prevention is the best way to stay safe.

The Basics of Home Security

Every homeowner needs to be active and aware of their home security concerns. With home invasions and break-ins on the rise, it is time to take some steps towards protecting your family and your valuable belongings. It would surprise most people to realize how simple it is for a burglar to break into their home. By following these simple steps, you can reduce the odds of coming home to discover your home has been broken into and your cherished valuables have been taken.

For a burglar, the three greatest enemies are noise, time, and light. If a burglar must make a lot of noise, take a lot of time, and work in a well-lit area to get into your home, chances are that he will not bother. In most cases, he will move onto an easier "mark". These are things that work in the favor of homeowners. I always tell my clients that, in order to defeat the burglar, one must think like the burglar.

Take some time and "case" the exterior of your home for points of entry. Imagine yourself as a burglar. Where would you try to get in? Where are the security weaknesses? You could even conduct a little experiment, by locking your home and trying to break in. If you, honest citizen, can break into your home with relative ease you can be sure it will be no problem for an experienced thief to gain entry.

Doors and windows are the first places to check when assessing the security of a home or business. Make sure that your home is equipped with a hard wood or metal exterior door, that is at minimum 1 ?" thick. The doorframe should be equally as strong. A peephole is much better than a simple door chain, as it will allow you to identify the person at your door without having to open it. And if there is one thing you spend a bit of money on, be sure it is a good quality deadbolt!

Windows are also extremely vulnerable, from a security standpoint. If you have an older home with double-hung windows, you can secure them by nailing the upper and lower panes together from the inside. As well, simple key locks can be added to windows for a reasonable price. If you have windows that are located at street level, consider adding an iron grate or grille for added protection. Balconies and fire escapes can also be security weaknesses, so consider purchasing one of those metal "accordion" gates.

There are a few other simple precautions you can take to secure your home. Try to establish a routine to ensure that your doors and windows are locked when you leave the house and when you go to bed each night. If you can afford it, you should also invest in a home security system. There are some incredibly advanced systems available on the market today, and these systems are very difficult to bypass. These simple steps could make the difference between being a victim of crime and being safe from harm. Think about it!

Home Security

Many of us are worried about leaving our home while on work or vacation and even when asleep, especially if the neighborhood is of notorious reputation. People are even afraid of leaving kids and old people at home for the fear that someone might break in and harm them. Some may even keep a weapon under the pillow. All these are not baseless fears but developed due to harrowing incidents of the past. People are becoming more and more cautious about protecting their homes by securely locking homes, not opening doors to strangers, informing neighbors if away from home for a long time and seeking assistance of home security systems.

Intruders and anti-social elements keep an eye on opportunities to gain entrance to homes. They do their homework well to look for the weakest points of entry to the home and all possible escape outlets like windows, doors and skylights. They too observe carefully if any surveillance systems are in use. Burglars might hesitate more to touch a house equipped with security systems like cameras, alarms and detectors.

Most people appreciate the value of securing their homes and there are several ways to do it. Even simple things like using heavy strong doors and windows and locking them takes more time to break into, and a burglar may be caught easily due to the noise caused. There are many kinds of safes too that can be placed in hidings for valuables. Good lighting outside at night is also a good idea. Alarms that go off easily scare intruders and warn people around that something is wrong. Installation of security systems is becoming more and more popular because of high safety they provide. They include control panels, many kinds of detectors, alarms and cameras. Budget and quality are the only considerations to ensure peace of mind.

A home can be made secure in different ways. Understanding the psychology of burglars, it is wise to invest some amount in maintaining security of a house rather than losing much more after a theft. This can be done using various security systems. They may not always be foolproof but at least they will reduce the risk of crime significantly

Home Security Cameras

Home security cameras are one of the components that can be used in a home security system. Security cameras have long been in use for offices and stores and are gradually gaining popularity for use in home security with decreasing prices and ease of installation. They can be simply connected to a TV and viewed as a separate channel.

Home security cameras provide safety in many ways. One can see who is at the door before opening and avoid suspicious people. Cameras can keep an eye on driveways to watch vehicles and equipment and check on anti-social elements. They can record events while members are out of the home. They can also be used to check on small children in their rooms. For farmhouses, it is even more important to keep a check on any trespassers and any danger to livestock. Computers and the Internet have even made it possible to keep a vigil on your home while away even in another part of the world.

There is a wide variety of security cameras available. One can go in for black and white or color ones. Black and white security cameras produce sharper pictures and are less expensive. However, advanced color security cameras are also available. Cameras placed outside the home should be shielded from weather and may be equipped with auto settings to adjust with changing weather like heat, rain, snow, and darkness or brightness. There is also a choice between wired and wireless security cameras each having their plus and minus points. Lens size is an important criterion. A wide angle lens can cover a wide area and not show details of strangers, while a narrow angle lens can project details and not show a large area. It is wise to use both kinds of lenses depending on location. Cheaper cameras have fixed lenses while expensive ones may allow options. For simple purposes, a cost-effective security camera can be created by using a webcam, pc and some software.

Home security cameras can add to security if placed well on strategic locations and used in combination with other security systems like control panels, detectors and alarms. Different kinds of cameras are available depending on the proposed use and cost factor. They provide great comfort to people who are alone, invalid or at large properties.

Home Security - Protect Your Children Online - Part 1

During our everyday life, we concern ourselves mainly with home security; enabling the security alarm, locking the door when we leave, etc. However, there?s another menace out there that is creeping through our society. This menace is Cyberstalking, the exploiting of our children through the Internet.

In my professional role in the Home Security Industry, I preach the values of the Internet, not only for us as adults and professionals, but also for our children. Our children have almost immediate access to any kind of information available throughout the world. Want to read A Tale Of Two Cities? It?s on the Internet. Have a question about who the third person to land on the moon was? It?s on the Internet. However, want to be exposed to nudity, pedophiles, and thousands (if not millions) of other social deviants? You bet it?s on the Internet and just a key touch away from your child or grandchild. So, what do we do about this?

First, we educate ourselves. Go to The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children website at www.ncmec.org and download their study ?Online Victimization - A Report on the Nation?s Youth.? This report will provide an eye-opening look at the perils our children are under every time they access America Online, Compuserve, or the Internet via the local Internet Service Provider. It also provides a telling survey on how parents deal with their children?s use of the Internet. For example, over 85% of parents have talked with their children about being careful talking to strangers on the Net, and 97% of those polled check every now and then on what is on their child?s computer screen. But, only half the parents ever go back and actually check history to ensure the child is indeed staying out of potential problem sites, and only 39% set a limit on the amount of time their child can be on the Internet. Though it appears that parents do realize the potential exposure their children have on the Net, less than 1/2 play a truly diligent role in ensuring their child is protected.

Second, we educate others. Gather information from such sites as The National Center and tens of other child advocacy sites (including www.pta.org), and speak to your fellow parents in your school system about the dangers presented to our children on the Internet. Stay tuned for future articles on ways to prevent your children from being exposed to unsuitable material. Bottom line: be involved with your child?s Internet experience. They now have the world, literally, at their fingertips. Make the effort to have it at yours also. Part 2 explains the warning signs that your child is having a bad experience online.

Homeland Security Equipment - Gas Mask

Homeland security is the number one goal for the United States Government and should be the goal for all of it's citizens. The deadly attacks on Sept. 11 and the recent London bombings have highlighted the importance of safety and security throughout the world. The homeland security threat level has been raised to elevated status by Texas homeland security department. As per the Texas homeland security department the elevated level is defined as:

There is a significant risk of terrorist attacks. In addition to the actions recommended under lower threat levels, agencies should consider:

  • Increasing surveillance of critical infrastructure and significant locations.

  • Coordinating emergency plans as appropriate with nearby jurisdictions.

  • Assessing and disseminating information and warnings as appropriate.

Emergency preparedness was discussed elaborately on National Public Radio (NBR) and was emphasized that safety equipment like gas masks need to be procured by every citizen of the United States and be prepared for any disaster from future terrorist attacks. They also mentioned that it is time for people to consider these warnings seriously and an action plan to safeguard themselves and their loved ones need to be formulated.

There are a number of products available on the market to protect you and your family from unexpected attacks on your safety, including products like gas masks that could be specified as Homeland Security equipment. Whether you are facing an intrusion of your privacy or a terrorist attack directed at your workplace, there are products available from fire safety equipment, gas masks to surveillance equipment which can provide an extra layer of protection. Even when your home may be insured against damage, insurance will not protect your health in the event of a fire. Even though you may never need to reach for the fire extinguisher, it is always safer to have it on hand in the event of an emergency.

Gas masks can provide you safety in the event of a breach of homeland security, such as a chemical or biological attack. They can also be used in industrial and agricultural environments in which there are a large number of airborne pollutants. When you need protection for both your eyes and respiratory system, consider the gas masks which has been approved by the EU and NATO as a personal protection device.

There are surveillance equipment like video surveillance equipment which would help guard your premises and aid you further in improving your safety and security. You may also look into audio surveillance equipment such as our phone line analyzer to ensure that your data transfers and conversations are protected. Homeland Security and the related products can help you take action to ensure your safety and that of your loved ones.

Home Security - Protect Your Properties with Property Marking

Ultra violet technology is used in security products to protect property. With the use of an ultra violet pen, property is marked with a specific sign, number or code. That mark is called an ultra violet mark, however, the mark will not be visible in normal light, but will glow when an ultra violet light is shed on it from an ultraviolet lamp. The mark does not damage property in any way. This technology is used to mark property at home, school, office, on boats, and recreational vehicles. In case of a theft, once the goods are recovered you can confidently claim them.

Any personal property can be marked with ultra violet pens. It is ideal for marking and identifying: PCs, Servers, Kitchen Appliances, Mobile Phones, Lap-Top Computers, Home and Office Equipment, Audio Systems, TV and Accessories, Vehicles and their parts, Cycles and Motorcycles, General Household Valuables, Gardening Equipment, Leisure and Sports Equipment.

UV lamps are available in both portable and stationary models. Ultra violet lamps can detect fake currency, mechanical and chemical erasures.

Ultra violet pens are used to mark property with an ultraviolet mark. Ultra violet pens can be used on surfaces like wood, plastic, metal, glass, cloth, and paper to write and mark. It is advisable to mark property every two years as the ultra violet marks may fade with exposure to sun light or by washing. In addition, ultra violet marks should be put in places where it has the least human contact or contact with other things. This again prevents faster fading. The best way to mark properties with an ultra violet pen is to write the driving license number or first two initials of the name or other special code that you would like to use.

The best use of ultra violet marking is when certain item that is marked with ultra violet pen goes in for repairs, if switching of the item occurs it can be easily detected. Recovery of goods after theft becomes possible and the job of police officers becomes easier in identifying your goods.

Ultra violet lamps can be found that use either batteries or electricity. You can find ultra violet lamps and pen sold together in one kit or separately according to your preferences. There are some ultra violet pens that promise life long marking, but eventually the markings will begin to fade. It is advisable to mark property periodically to ensure that the mark is visible and clearly legible when exposed to ultra violet light.

Home Security - Protect Your Home with Dummy Security Cameras

Today with the increasing number of cases of stalking, theft, rape and murder, you do not need to be a celebrity or a millionaire to secure your home. While some essential security devices like alarm systems and electronic door locks are affordable, products like electronic sensors, surveillance cameras may be costly for a middle class householder. However, the pressing security demands that you do something to scare the criminals. The answer lies in dummy cameras.

Dummy cameras will scare would-be trespassers and criminals enough for them to leave your home alone. These cameras look exactly like the real ones. There is no difference in these cameras and the real ones except that these are not cameras at all. They look like the real ones and are priced as low as $25-$30. Most of the dummy cameras have cables to give the feeling that it has a connection to a control room where the camera shows on screen whatever image it catches. Some dummy cameras are so designed that they move along with the movement of the object in front of it. The focal lengths printed on the camera lenses, cables and sturdy look can deceive anyone into thinking that these are the real CCTV cameras.

The trick in buying dummy CCTV cameras is that you should be careful that they do not look like dummy cameras. There are dummy cameras that have real camera housing minus the electronics. These cameras really give the real look of a security camera. An original security surveillance camera would be the same when its electronic components are removed. Therefore, an outsider will not have the slightest doubt that it is a dummy CCTV camera. The flashing red LED adds to the authenticity of the dummy CCTV cameras.

Dummy security cameras can fit on the interior of your home as well as mounted on the exterior. There are dummy security cameras that imitate popular companies, which build replicas of their popular models. Shops could use these dummy security cameras and would be an added asset in many cases especially in high robbery areas. Dummy cameras pan from left to right upon detecting movement in front it, so any would-be criminal will think he is being watched. That's enough to scare a prospective robber. Much like real surveillance cameras dummy security cameras can be mounted on roofs like dome cameras.

Whatever the variety and model that exist in the market for real surveillance cameras, dummy security cameras are there with the same exact look and feel. At low cost and virtually no maintenance these cameras are of great help in averting theft, trespassing and even serious crimes.

Home Security Devices -- How To Choose A Company To Buy From

It is important to choose the right company when you buy home security devices like alarms. Wrong choices can have unforeseen consequences, including you becoming liable for claims! Here are some of the factors you must look into.

Before you approach a company, do an assessment of your needs. How much protection do you want? What compromises are you willing to put up with? What is your budget?

Remember, there is no such thing as a perfect home security alarm or system. All design is a compromise and choosing and installing home security products is no exception.

The best home security companies are willing to work with you to come up with a solution that is right for you and your family. They will take into account your house and environs, the perceived threats, your family's lifestyle and of course, your budget.

Make sure that the company you are considering has been in this business for at least three to five years.

In addition, they should be able to provide you with local referrals of their existing customers. Follow up on the referrals and find out what their experience has been, both good and bad. Ask them specifically what they did not like about the company or it products.

Ask the company about insurance. That includes workman's compensation, general liability, errors and omissions, etc. Did you know that if the company is not adequately protected, any claims and losses might fall on you?

That's why you must ask to see insurance certificates for all these items. You have every right to ask, because of the potential liability you are exposing yourself to. Make sure you are protected.

Read the contract carefully. If you don't understand something, ask the company and if necessary, your lawyer. Check the warranty period and what the warranty covers.

If you have specific requirements that you agree on with the company, ensure it is put into writing.

If you are using a monitored alarm system, find out whether it is monitored locally or outside the state.

Ensure that the company does the full installation themselves and do not subcontract all or part of the work.

Follow the above tips on choosing a company to supply home security devices and alarms and you may save yourself a whole lot of trouble later on.

How To Make Money With Home Security

When it comes to protecting your family, most people think that they can do more. And if you have a special knack for knowing what can make a home safer, then you can make money with a home security business. You don't even have to be an expert or have a background in law enforcement to be successful.

A home security business is much like a business consultant business. You meet with a family to assess what they want for their home and try to figure out what you can do for them. You make money either through these consultations or by installing the system yourself (or both). You can even manufacture the security system in order to cut down your costs.

What you need

When you're beginning a home security system to make money, you need to know what you are talking about. The first thing that you will want to do is look around at the various home security systems to see what is available and what they can do. A good catalog of the various systems is helpful to study and bring with you at various customer consults.

You will also want to have an appropriate business uniform as well as a notepad that can contain your various suggestions for the customer's home. You might want to create a paper that outlines various sections of the home that you can fill out as your survey the house. Initial consultations may not be the best way to make money, but rather a great way to show a customer where they might need to be more secure.

You will need to have either a supplier of the security systems or have the equipment to make them. This can be a costly enterprise, but you can start out small and make money as you go along before making a larger investment. Just begin your business by ordering what you need when you need it, and then as you learn what systems are more popular, you can then start keeping some at your home for quicker jobs.

Also, you will need to proper equipment to install the systems quickly and completely. This might include just basic tools that don't need to be too complicated. But in order to make money, you do need to have everything that you need before you start a job to ensure that your customers are getting efficient service as well as quality.

Growing your business

As you build a client and a referral base, you can make money with your security business in other ways. You might want to have a seminar on securing your home that any business or home owner can attend. Not only are you providing information to the attendees, but you're also getting advertising for your own services.

Another way to make money in a home security business is to create a relationship with the local alarm supply company. You may be able to offer your customers discounted rates because of the constant referrals to that company and in return, they get more business as well.

As you grow your home security business, you will want to turn to previous clients to make money. You can do this by offering to update their systems each year or by offering to run periodic system checks. Is a Dummy Home Security Camera Economical?

A home security camera is one way to protect your home against would be burglars. A home security camera system is essentially one or more small cameras that are mounted, usually, on the exterior of your home to deter would be burglars. A home security camera typically works in conjunction with a home security system. In many cases the home security camera is activated by motion and can swivel to begin filming in the direction in which motion is detected. The home security camera will transmit the images that it views to a monitor where it can be viewed and recorded. Purchasing a home security camera for several locations on your property and the monitoring and recording equipment can be quite expensive. A home security camera has been proven to be an effective burglary deterrent and for these reasons some homeowners opt for a dummy home security camera to deter burglars without the high price of a real home security camera.

The question, however, is whether or not a dummy home security camera can really be an effective way to protect your home from burglary. There really is no simple answer to this question. A dummy home security camera that is very convincing and can be difficult to distinguish from a real home security camera might be effective. The more the dummy camera looks like the real thing, the more likely it is to fool burglars. The problem with this is that the more realistic the dummy security camera looks, the more expensive it will be. The price may still be lower than a real camera but it may be close enough in price that a real home security camera might be a better option. There are many dummy home security cameras that can be purchased for very little money but when the price is lower so is the quality of the replication. A dummy home security camera that is clearly a fake will not be effective when it comes to deterring burglars.

For many determining whether or not a dummy security camera is an economical choices has more to do with effectiveness than it does with finances. A dummy security camera may certainly be an affordable home security option but if is not effective, it will turn out be very costly. A real home security camera will more than pay for itself if it prevents you from losing valuable or irreplaceable pieces of property. A real home security camera not only acts as a burglary deterrent but in the event that the burglars do enter your property, a real security camera can record valuable evidence that might be useful in regaining your property.

Home security tips -- Good lighting helps prevent crimes

It is obvious that lighting plays a critical role in making your home safer. Yet, many homeowners don't plan it well from the viewpoint of security. Here are several critical home security tips on lighting.

* All sides of your home should have security lighting in place, placed high out of reach. Make sure it is reasonably vandal resistant.

* Lighting near doors is especially important, because burglars tend to focus on doors the most.

* To reduce risk of burglary, any lighting is better than no lighting. If you see that any portion of the house or yard is not adequately lit, take care of it.

* Your garage is another critical area of your home. Make use of an automatic garage opener. Most garage openers turn on one or more lights when activated.

* To protect your carport, leave a light on. If you are going away, have a light set on a timer. Also have lights activated by motion detectors to deter intruders.

* In general, lights attached to motion detectors are the best choice for exteriors, particularly for the backyard. Connect an alarm as well and you will immediately get to know if someone moves around in your yard.

* Some people hesitate to use motion sensor type lighting because of the false alarms caused by small animals like cats and dogs. Proper placement of the motion sensors as well as correct settings for sensitivity will take care of this problem to a large extent.

* Using motion sensors in the front of the house requires careful planning, because they can be triggered by people walking on the sidewalk or by children playing. Nevertheless, it is a good idea to hook lights to motion sensors.

* Many people leave just a small light on when going out. This is done to avoid walking into a dark home when returning. Examples include hallway lights or a light in one corner of the kitchen / living room.

Unfortunately, this kind of lighting signals to would-be burglars that no one is home.

The solution is to leave several lights on. Leave a radio on as well. When going on a vacation, put interior lights and a radio on timers.

As you can see, your objective is twofold. One, to ensure that lighting can reach all nooks and corners of your home and yard on demand. Two, your home should look occupied even when it is not.

Follow these simple home security tips on lighting and you will have gone a long way towards creating a safer home for you and your family.

Home Security -- Eight Things You Must Do To Deter Burglars

Why should you bother with preventive home security measures? Because of one simple fact -- most home break-ins are crimes of opportunity.

Burglars don't usually do much advance planning for specific break-ins. They pick out any target that seems to be easy. If closer examination reveals that your home is not an easy target, they just move on.

Here are 8 things you can do to prevent your home from looking like a soft target.

1. All doors and windows should be plainly visible from the street and to your neighbors. Large shrubs and hedges which hamper visibility make it easy for burglars to do their job.

That's why any bushes and shrubs that are within four feet of sidewalks, driveways, doors, etc should be kept under a couple of feet high. Those within four to eight feet should be trimmed to not more than four feet high.

2. Do you place plants under window sills? If so, trim them to a foot lower than the window sill level.

3. Trees should not hamper visibility to your house. Also ensure that burglars can't use trees to gain access to your second floor windows and doors. Trim trees so that the lowest branches are seven feet or more above the ground.

4. Large gauge gravel causes noise when burglars walk on it. Placing them under windows is a good psychological deterrent.

5. Use fencing around your house and keep gates locked (even when you are at home, if possible). This sounds elementary, but locked gates prevent burglars from making off easily with large items!

In other words, ensure that there are no quick exits from the house.

6. Grow thorny plants under windows and along fences. They are very discouraging to burglars. Fencing using thorny plants is as good as barbed wire fencing and looks a whole lot better.

7. Ensure that street numbers are clearly visible from the street. This helps anyone responding to emergency calls to reach your home faster.

House numbers placed on your house should be six inches high and made of reflective material. Alternatively, use black on white lettering. The numbers should be illuminated at night.

Paint your house number on the curb in front of your driveway, using black lettering on white background.

8. Don't leave ladders and tools lying around. They should be locked away in a in a storage area or garage.

Get these eight things right and you will have enhanced your home security to a level that will make many potential burglars uneasy about targeting your home.

Warning! selling your home is a security and preparation issue

Location, central heating, air conditioning, double glazing, good neighbours, good schools and a long lease these are just some of the factors that buyers consider when buying a property. So it was some surprise when we learnt that that new UK research commissioned by the Homebuyer Show revealed something completely different.

The survey reports that 72 per cent of home buyers say good security is rated as being more important when making a buying decision than a home overall condition and size.

Home buyers also ranked security above other key house buying factors such as the quality of the neighbourhood and local facilities.

Less important when deciding on a property is the state of the interior decor, 51 per cent regarded this as irrelevant.

One in three buyers are unconcerned by the provision of lack schools and a similar amount were indifferent of the size and state of a property's garden.

Security Security, Security!

The study also looked at the improvements and gadgets in a home. Security again topped the list with homebuyers regarding a state of the art security system as being more desirable than kitchen gadgets and plush designer furnishings.

Nick Clark managing director of Homebuyer Events said "Home Security has been moving up the homebuyers' agenda for a number of years but it has now become one of the main priorities."

Despite the findings of the study it is clear that to sell your house it requires a great deal of preparation. Those sellers who feel that they are wasting money improving their homes before they sell will not sell their home fast. In fact this lack of preparation could cost them thousands in price reductions. A broken fence or damaged guttering will only serve to add negotiating power to the buyer.

Price and presentation are critical to sell your home

First impressions count, buyers will have already formed an impression before they step into your property. A well-kept garden, pathway and fence, plus a freshly painted front door are immediately appealing, whereas a scruffy outdoor space with a litter bin outside the front door may turn many prospective buyers away.

De-clutter - don't underestimate the appeal of a tidy property. Throw out the junk - use moving as a good excuse to get rid of old, unwanted and unused items.

Clean - dust and clean the whole house thoroughly, from cobwebs on the ceiling to crumbs and stains on carpets and rugs. Remember to wash down paintwork and clean windows.

Natural Colours - research shows that, most buyers prefer natural, earthy colours to bright, bold shades. Although there is a wide range of paint colours available, magnolia is still the top-selling colour.

Add a bit of colour - to prevent rooms looking too bland, use strong colours for accent walls or cushions and accessories.

De-personalise - remove personal items, such as family photographs and children's drawings, which may distract potential buyers. It may sound harsh but it really helps sell property

Maintenance - Complete all minor repairs. Major Jobs- If you don't spend out on home improvements to complete major repairs it could have a disproportionate affect on the value of the property.

Lighting - the right lighting can improve the mood of a room. A room looks cosier with a few table lamps rather than bright general lighting. Create a scent - it may be a bit of a clich? to bake bread or grind coffee beans just before the arrival of a potential buyer, but scent does plays an important role in creating the right impression.

Open windows - most buyers like the smell of a freshly cleaned and aired room. Open the windows every day to let fresh air into the house. Avoid strong food odours - don't cook foods such as fish or curry before a viewing as the smell will linger.

Take pets out - ask friends or family to look after pets during viewings. Fresh flowers and fruit - flowers and a bowl of fruit will brighten up a room and provide a pleasant smell.

Define your rooms - a property will be more appealing if rooms have a specific purpose and this allows buyers to see the full potential of the property.

Seasons - the best time for selling property is spring and autumn; the market slows down during late summer and over Christmas/New Year. If a property is sold while the market is buoyant, it's much more likely to attract the asking price.

So if you want to sell your home quickly preparation is crucial and upgrading your security arrangements is a must.

Home Security Alarm - Have Peace of Mind

Have you ever really thought about how safe your home is? The world can be a nasty place sometimes - are your family protected from that? It's very easy not to think about the security of our home, but it's worth spending some time considering your family's safety. It's quite possible that you live in nice neighbourhood, and so think a home security alarm system is unnecessary. But have you thought about the fact that a criminal may target your neighbourhood for exactly that reason - because it's nice, and probably has houses full of nice things? If your home doesn't have any obvious safety devices or an alarm system, then it could well be chosen as an easy target.

The good thing is that a good home security alarm can drop you right back to the bottom of the list as far as a criminal is concerned. Which is great - after all, what would you do if some shifty character slipped in through your window in the middle of the night? Would you even wake up if you tend to sleep very heavily? You don't have to worry about that sort of thing, because a home security alarm will do the watching for you.

Even better, it doesn't have to cost you a fortune to buy a home security alarm system. You can pay that much if you want to, but there are plenty of simple, cheap products that can help to protect your home without breaking the budget. One example is window alarms - they're very effective and reasonably inexpensive. These work by activating a siren if someone tries to climb through your window uninvited. Apart from the fact that you'll get woken up and can call the police, the loud noise will undoubtedly cause the potential thief to vanish as fast as possible. No criminal wants to call attention to himself.

By doing some research, you can find other products to help make your home more secure. Sometimes it's hard to pay out money for "what if" situations that may never happen to you. Reality is, though, that they are happening to people every day, and you don't want to be added to that list. Prepare yourself with a decent home security alarm. You'll feel a lot safer knowing that thieves and other bad guys will always prefer to target a house without a home security alarm. They like to do things as easily and quietly as possible.

Remember, too, that even something as simple as keeping your doors and windows locked even when you're home during the day, is a step in the right direction. You never know when someone may decide to just walk into your home, maybe not even realising that you're there. Don't take that chance!

Finally, get online and check out the options for a quality home security alarm for your house. Make sure you take responsibility, and keep your loved ones safe.

A Step-by-Step Guide for Choosing a Home Security System

Two million American houses are burglarized according to the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association. A majority of these houses have no alarm system to warn off the burglars or to notify the occupants or neighbors that a burglary is taking place. Installing security equipment - security hardware and software for your home provides a peace of mind and alerts and reacts to any unauthorized entry. Below are the basic steps to purchasing and installing a home alarm system:

1. Survey your home and decide how many of the doors and windows of the house will be included in the alarm system.

2. Talk to a security system adviser, an insurance agent, or a local police department for names of security companies.

3. Call up each of the companies and ask for an inspection by them as well as a recommendation and a price quote.

4. Depending on the reason for the security alarms and your family's normal lifestyle, pick the appropriate type, brand, and locations for sensors around the home.

5. A basic part of the security system to decide is the 24 hour monitoring system for an extra monthly fee. When there is an attempted robbery, a signal is automatically sent to security professionals that will contact the proper local police. A less expensive monitoring system will call pre-selected numbers for help when there is a break in.

6. Make sure all the zones can be controlled with one control panel. A zone is any window or door that is incorporated into the security system. The basic system can only control eight zones but it can be upgraded to control up to thirty two. These systems usually range around $350-400. Pick where the control panel will be placed as well as any other keypads throughout the house. The keypads in most houses are placed at the front door and in the bedroom, allowing certain components to be turned on or off while the control panel manages the entire system.

7. When looking for a home automation system, make sure that they connect to lighting, smoke, carbon monoxide, and flood sensors. A problem that quite a few systems have is that during the winter their switches freeze so consult an authority for its practicality during the winter.

8. Once the system is installed, the code should be easy to remember by everyone in the family and should be kept private under most circumstances. Make sure the keypad is user friendly and can activate and deactivate alarms in seconds.

9. There are many advantages to choosing wireless burglar alarms. One of the main ones is that there is no reason to drill too many holes in the wall. And if a retrofit comes into the scenario, having a wireless system becomes a huge convenience.

General Tips: 1. Check that the system has a backup battery power. 2. Ask about maintenance tests, how does them, and how often. 3. Choose the monitoring service before buying the system because the type of system limits what type of service you will receive.

Today's Home Security

Security is the most important aspect of life, most so in the case of home security. In the days of ever increasing crime and theft, it is all the more imperative for us to have a safe and strong home security system. The miscreants are well exposed to the modern methods of surveillance and monitoring making normal life highly vulnerable even inside our own home.

Many a careless family would tell their horrifying experience of house breaks and thefts that had happened to them out of sheer negligence and lack of proper security system.

Home security systems of varied nature and methods are plenty available. A simple warning signal by means of a security tag from a reputed security agency itself acts a deterrent for the robbers. However it is wise to choose an effective and economical system to make the security at home really effective. A good monitoring system to work in your absence and that would react when triggered enabling someone to see, or a system that produces an alarm, that can be directed to the Police or emergency service, is an ideal choice.

Use of variety of locks is another option to protect the house in one's absence. Protecting the family and the belongings from the vulnerability of thefts and house breaks is no small task. One has to be quite relaxed when one is away from one's house and has to ensure the possessions are quite safe even in their absence.

Wireless home security system, the modern effective way of protecting the home and the family, though a new concept, is really effective. One has to know the basics of wireless home security system before choosing the same.

The first aspect to be considered in a wireless security system is to determine the number of doors and windows that could be brought under the system. The placing of the control panel and keypads is an individual choice, while some prefer it near the front door, others find it convenient to be on the side of the bedroom.

The doors and windows need to be near to the sensors to enable them to communicate with the sensors. Various choices are available in monitoring systems; one option is to hire a company for a nominal fee. If on the other hand one choose to spend less, a basic system with a dialer connected to the telephone, that can dial the chosen numbers would be sufficient.

Motion detectors is normally a good option, unless of course the pets in the home roam around, during night or when the system is enabled making unwanted alarms or warning signals.

One should entrust the home security system to a reputable and trust worthy security agency. The wireless home security system chosen should monitor every zone in the house. Further the system should be user friendly and effective during an emergency.

The batteries used in the contact devices tends to be a costly as the same is to be replaced and each service call needs to be paid. The system therefore is a bit expensive compared to a hard wired system. One has to be a little technical savvy to avoid such expenditure and capable of reinstalling the batteries by oneself.

Installation of the wireless security system is quite easy and once the control panels and sensors are properly placed at desired points, the system is operational and you stand protected. Alternatively one can also get the system installed by a contractor or a company specialized in the service at a nominal cost.

The Value of Home Security Safes

A basic locking cabinet can secure valuable papers or personal items but it will not protect them from theft or fire damage. Only safes can provide a superior level of protection for documents, jewelry, guns and personal items. Computer data that would be difficult or impossible to duplicate if lost. Home and business security systems require the addition of security safes to eliminate the possibility of data and document loss due to fire and climate disruptions.

The proliferation of home robberies are classified as "snatch and grab." The intruder invests approximately 3-5 minutes within the home. The very presence of a home security safe is a deterrent to such robberies. Any additional time invested within the home increases the odds of apprehension. Theft prevention and climate control management have rendered security safes a requirement for any home, office or business. The needed security afforded by home and business safes completes any existing security control system. Home security safes offer protection of personal documents, jewelry and irreplaceable items. Home safes are a major deterrent from robbery and provide needed security from fire and climate changes. Advance Safes offer a large inventory of wall safes, floor safes, fire safes, gun safes, and electronic digital safes. Home safes are a perfect compliment to any home security system.

Fire could destroy your business! In fact, eight businesses burn almost every hour in the U.S. resulting in over 2.3 billion dollars in annual losses.* Unfortunately, seven out of ten businesses have not adequately protected their vital records. When that information is destroyed a business often fails. Don't become a company that incurs fire damage resulting in critical loss of data (customer, personnel, accounting files, etc.) by not utilizing quality fire and data media safes. Survival is possible but preparation is necessary.

Security safes are an essential protection against fire, theft and climate changes. Theft prevention, fire protection, data security and storage are a requirement for any business or home office. Advance Safes offer a complete inventory of fire safes, data media safes, depository safes, floor safes, treasury safes (TL-15 and TL-30), vaults and hotel safes. A quality safe is an essential requirement for any business security system. A safe investment is a long-term security dividend. The Value of a Good Home Security System

I've lived the better portion of my life with the benefits of a good home security system in any home that I've lived in since I was a child.

Home security systems aren't nearly as expensive as some might think. When I purchased my new home, it came without the benefit of a home security system already installed, so I had to decide on which security company I should have install a new system.

I won't tell you which company I decided on, but I will tell you that there are certain factors to be considered when making that decision.

Those factors would include:

Initial cost: Let's face it, home security systems aren't as expensive as they once were, but you should shop around for the company with the services that suit your family and your budget.

Monthly cost: You'll most likely be paying a monitoring fee to the company that you choose. Make sure that this cost is something that you can easily factor into your budget. I'm not saying that you should scrimp, but this is an important decision. Make sure that the monitoring fee is something that easily works for you.

Shop around. Don't go with the first home security company that you speak to. Do your research.

Make no mistake, having a good home security system will do wonders for your peace of mind. Do your homework, and you won't regret it.

Thanks for reading.

Wireless Home Security Camera

Home security is an important issue for any person. A person's home is their castle and they want to feel safe and secure. There are several security measures that can be implemented to ensure security such as alarms but one that ensures peace of mind is a wireless home security camera package.

What's need in the package is a camera to fit either just outside the front or back door that transmits a wireless signal. The best one to buy would be one that has night vision to ensure you can see everything at night. The second would be a receiver. Some receivers have screens so you can watch what's going on no matter where you are and others need to be connected to a computer or television to see the transmission.

If connected to a computer or television the live feed from the camera can be directly recorded to a hard drive or a cassette or DVD depending on which is convenient. Several cameras can be implemented to get several signals meaning more coverage of the home and the surrounding area.

These wireless home security packages are common and can be purchased at most electronics stores. They are on the expensive side but are worth the purchase for the kind of technology it has. With almost everything becoming wireless these days it was only a matter of time until cameras became wireless also.

Most people need some sort of security measure in place, not for protection, but for peace of mind that they are safe in their home. Although there are several other measures that can be implemented in terms of security, the wireless home security camera is a valuable tool for keeping an eye on things at all times. It will complement any other security measure you have in place and will not disappoint.

Home security tips

HOME SECURITY TIPS

Did you know a single-family home is twice as likely to be burglarized than apartments?

Cash, small electronic equipment, home computers, cameras, jewelry, furs, tools and handguns are the most popular items for a burglar Few people really bother about security until something happens to them or a neighbor. Your lack of home security is the burglar's best friend and your worst enemy. There are many things the average person can do to make their home less of a target.

A burglar needs to get in, commit his crime, and get out fast without being seen or caught. Some basic precautions you can take are listed below which will greatly increase his reasons not to choose your home A burglar will typically attack an empty home, so anything you can do to make the place secure and look like there is someone home will help move him on to another target. When you are away do not change the look of the house. For example do not close up all the drapes and send the dog to someone else's house. Pay a kid to come and walk it and feed it each day you are away.

Put a timer on some of your main room lights and TV so they come on and off at the usual times. Have a neighbor put the trash cans out for you etc. Making the place look lived in will help a lot. Put yourself in the place of the criminal. If you were to break in to your house where would you start? Do the same drill with a friend and see what he comes up with.

Talk to you local police and get their recommendations for making your house safer for you and your family. Here are some other helpful hints that may save you a heartbreaking experience.

Trim back overhanging branches so a burglar can't get access to upper floors. Check to see if there are any other easy ways to get on the roof or in through an upper window i.e. ladders lying around, lattice against the house walls, roof drains etc

Plant thorny shrubs and bushes outside any low windows. Trim any shrubbery that a person could hide in against the house

Do you have skylights can that be removed from the outside or easily broken? If so get them secured.

Inspect your roof area and see if there are any possible entry points where a person could gain entry. Even a loose roof vent could provide access or a child burglar

Do not store you spare keys outside. What you think is a good storage space will be obvious to any experienced housebreaker. Everyone puts their keys under a pot plant or over a ledge. Leave the key with a trusted neighbor or friend so anyone who does legally need to get into your house will know where to get it.

Install exterior lights with motion detectors by all doors. Set these so a person will set them off but not a pet. They can be aimed a little high or the sensitivity can be raised a little

Ensure that your exterior doors are at least 1-3/4 inch thick 9 they probably are already) and made from solid wood or reinforced with metal? Any decent quality exterior door will provide good protection. All exterior doors should have a dead bolt as well as the regular door lock. Make sure this dead bolt is installed with a heavy-duty strike plate and long heavy screws that go well into the door jamb and framing lumber behind it. A weak strike plate and screws will give way to a good kick or heavy shoulder.

Do not have a mail slot that a person can get their hand through and reach the door locks. Also glass panels in a door can defeat the whole plan, as they are easy to break and the locks can then be reached. CAUTION: A double keyed dead bolt, with a key to operate each side is a fire safety hazard and are not recommended in a living space. A pet door is also easy access for a child to get in and unlatch the door for a burglar. Upstairs windows are also easy access for a thief.

Any exterior glass doors need to have a security lock on the inside. These can be clamps that go on the top and bottom rails, a broomstick cut to fit in the lower track or even a dead bolt type system. Also you can add a few screws in the upper track after the door is installed. Do not screw these all the way in, just enough to allow the door to slide easily. This will prevent a burglar from lifting the door out of its frame to gain entry

Pay special attention to the garage. Often a side door to the garage gets overlooked and is not a high quality door like the rest of the house. There should also be a dead bolt from the garage to the house so this can be locked at night. If you do not have an electric garage door opener then make sure you can bolt the garage door from the inside to prevent forced opening. Also lock you car and set the alarm when it is in the garage as added precaution.

Check your windows. Are they easy to open from the outside? Ask a friend to try and break in, as he will see it differently to you. Windows in easily accessible positions should have a secure locking system or bars to prevent access. CAUTION: Any bared window should have a release devise so the window and bars can be easily released for emergency exit. Consult you security specialist for this.

All your irreplaceable items should be stored in a fireproof safe or a bank safe deposit box. Computer backups should also be kept in another location. Make a video of your house contents and store this off site also. This is a great reminder tool should something go missing or to help the insurance company in the event of a disaster. Keep a record of all serial numbers, make and model numbers and file these. Mark all TV's and important items with a readily identifiable mark that can be seen easily by police or anyone who may be thinking of buying stolen items. There are many products on the market for this. You can also store all this data online at http://www.osldb.com/ Contact them for data on this program

Also take still photographs of your possessions so you have the record in case of emergencies.

Are you going away on vacation? Here are some things that can help protect you home and valuables

Arm the security system if you have one when you leave the house. In a dangerous area an internal security system just covering certain rooms that would catch an intruder at night may help you sleep better. Make sure a pet will not set these off. There is also an automatic dialer that can be added to security system that will automatically call the police and 1-2 other numbers if the alarm goes off.

Have neighbors on both sides watch your house for you. Leave them an emergency number where you can be reached. You can also leave a key with them if you know them well enough.

Get your lights and TV, radio etc on a timer so they come on and off at normal times.

Do not cancel the gardeners. DO cancel the mail and newspaper delivery or have a trusted friend or neighbor collect the mail daily. The post office will do this for you and you can go and collect you mail when you return. Lastly, call your local police and inform them you will be away for an extended time and ask if they can keep a watch on the house. Make sure they know who has keys and how to get hold of you.

If all the above fails go to http://www.osldb.com where you can list your stolen or lost property. This is a new web site where you can enlist the help of others to find your valuables. Better still use the advice above and don't get burgled.

Please consider our inventory of security safes as a welcome addition to any home or office environ.

How To Choose A Home Security Camera

Surveillance cameras are being used every where these days, all the malls and almost all stores and small shops have installed surveillance cams to stop thefts and burglaries. You must have probably heard of the net of cams in the Las Vegas casinos, yes without cameras the surveillance staff won?t be 1/10th as effective.

Taking the cue from the commercial segment many companies introduced home security camera a few years back, but, back then only the rich could afford the expensive home security camera systems. However, nowadays with development of technology, as home security camera is getting cheaper more and more people are able to afford them. Yes, today even a $30 cam can be turned into a home security camera, it?s no more a rich only option.

When selecting a home security camera, make sure it can take clear pictures in the radius you want to set it up. Systems like analogue closed circuit television may run cheap but it?s not worth the money. It saves recorded coverage to tapes which are not only expensive in the long run but will also take up a lot of space.

With the advent of internet and like I said earlier, development of technology, we have cheap yet good quality home security camera available that send live feeds to the internet and save coverage at a secured location. You can either watch the feds live or browse through the saved data at any point of time. Install two-three home security camera in a room depending on how big the room is and you can watch what is going on in your house from 5 miles or 5,000 miles away.

For those on a very tight budget, there are the fake home security camera which are very much like the original ones and some even swivel on their axis like the original ones but this strategy is only effective in preventing the crime rather than catching the crime.

However, if you aren?t on a budget you should go for tiny cams which can be hidden behind or within objects and are hard to find. These cams when combined with the right software can give you the perfect home security camera system. On the other hand if you want to make it clear to the burglars that your house is not a good choice, install a large cam, a must do for people installing fake cameras, at a location where it can easily be seen.

Home Security At Holiday Time

Before departing for your much earned holiday be wise and review your home security. The latest figures from the FBI show a burglary occurs every 15.4 seconds, the majority of these take place when the householder is not home.

A great number of these burglaries could be prevented by beefing up your home security.

The installation of a burglar alarm and surveillance cameras is one of the most common and effective ways to improve security instantly. But the installation of these devices does not guarantee you immunity, other steps and precautions need to taken to improve you overall security.

Some of the less expensive options available include installing motion sensor lighting around the perimeter of your home.

As well as the external security there is a great deal that can be done inside the home to improve security. Check all locks on doors and windows replace any defective locks.

Patio sliding doors offer the opportunist thief just what they are looking for easy access , the reason is usually poor maintenance or security (broken lock) don?t get caught out this way thinking it will never happen, it does and it will.

Take these steps to make your sliding door even more secure consider installing a blocking device such as a ?Charlie bar? or some other type of track blocker to prevent the door from sliding open. At the very least you should block the track with a steel rod or wooden dowel to prevent any movement.

Where possible use a home safe to store any valuables include such items as keys to outbuildings, garages, other vehicles and any other device that requires a key.

You should also hide any personal documents and identity information in your home safe as well. If you don?t have a home safe consider using a post office vault especially if you live in a high crime area.

Giving the impression someone is at home is a great way to dissuade a burglar and is key to improving home security. This can be achieved by using timers in various rooms to switch lights an appliances off and on at differing times of the day. Be smart though and apply this tactic to more than one room in your house.

Other security measures include stopping your mail and paper deliveries. If you have two vehicles leave one parked on your driveway or ask a neighbor to park in your driveway whilst you are away.

Leave a key with a trusted neighbor or relative and ask them to check your home periodically. Switch off any answering machine don?t be tempted to leave a message saying you are on vacation. Ensure all outbuildings are secure, making sure any tools in your garage that could be used to gain access are under lock and key.

No matter what steps and security measures you take your home will never be 100% secure. But the harder you make it for a burglar to gain entry the stronger your home security will be.

HARRY BELAFONTE: DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY (D.H.S.) AKIN TO NAZI S.S.

Excerpts: To wit, two once-Communist "head hunters": Yevgeni Primakov, ex-K.G.B. boss; and Marcus Wolf, ex-East German Secret Police [S.T.A.S.S.I.] Chief, are working in the employ of Michael Chertoff, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (D.H.S.). This is possible due to Executive Order #12919 signed by Bill Clinton on June 4, 1994, allowing "experts" to be hired to run the country in times of "emergency". However, they did not tell you they would hire foreigners, nor that "full time federal employees" would not be eligible for these federal "emergency" positions. Why? Federal employees take an oath to the Constitution and thus would not perform properly in such treasonous activities. Wake up Americans.

**F.E.M.A. (Federal Emergency Management Agency) is about 10 percent "Flood and Mud". The other 90% of their funding goes to "black operations"; not for "disaster relief". This is why they could not respond to Katrina; nor will they be able to respond to any major disaster. Their funds have been spent behind the scenes for "Kontrol" of the American people: To include the termination of "certain groups of people". Prophetically, F.E.M.A.'s treasonous activities are about to be found out when weather-related disasters soon strike the U.S.A. The Congress, which voted the "blank check" money over the last 20 years, will soon realize untold billions were spent for something besides disaster relief for you and me. Are you "smelling the coffee" yet?

R&B Editor's Note: The Root & Branch Information Services and Lecture Series will be closed from Rosh Chodesh Nisan (Thursday, March 30, 2006) through Rosh Chodesh Cheshvan (Sunday, October 21, 2006).

Harry Belafonte has figured something out which you have not. I am not a great fan of Harry Belafonte as he is somewhat "liberal". However, his recent statements about the Department of Homeland Security (D.H.S.) are correct.

As a retired Joint Chiefs of Staff Action Officer who has done extensive research in the operations of the **Federal Emergency Management Agency (F.E.M.A.) over the past 14 years, I can assure you that Belafonte's remarks are valid.

Moreover, behind the "scenes" daily presented by N.B.C., C.N.N., A.B.C., A.P., ad nauseam (which feed us with cleverly propagated lies), F.E.M.A. and the D.H.S. are working hand in hand with the "shadow government" to destroy our "life, iberty and the pursuit of happiness". Taking those rights/hopes is the covert plan of the New World Order. Be advised: Born again Believers in Jesus Christ, and all Jews, are in now imminent danger in the UNITED STATES.

In the name of a "war on terror" the "shadow government", which includes operatives within (and without) D.H.S. and F.E.M.A., are working feverishly to execute "events" which will seem plausible, but which will lead to draconian laws being passed, such as the Patriot Acts. These laws were the result of the "scenario" cleverly executed against us on September 11, 2001. Another "attack" will most likely guarantee their extension by a "scared Congress".

The American people are so dumbed-down that they will believe any cock and bull story they hear on T.V. An example is the 1996 T.V. report by Tom Brokaw, wherein he stated at 6:30 p.m. that "...Twenty-five tons of high nitrate (bomb grade) fertilizer had been stolen from the farmer's coop in BRUCETON MILLS, WEST VIRGINIA".

The immediate FEAR mongering mindset they wanted to inject into the U.S. public is that there are at least 25 tons of bombs now hidden in the U.S.A. --- Oh, my goodness, Heaven help us, it is going to be the annihilation of our kids and wives.

Just like OKLAHOMA CITY in 1995. Folks, this is the "Hegelian Dialectic process" in action wherein the New World Order propaganda and "black operations" systems dupe and enslave us all.

Nevertheless, an A.N.F.O. [fertilizer-fuel oil] bomb will NOT cut reinforced concrete past 23 feet. So testified General Benton K. Partin, <u>a Defense Department Directed Energy Weapons Designer/Engineer,</u> before the 2nd OKLAHOMA CITY (county) grand jury; a jury which you NEVER heard about, thanks to a controlled press. The truck bomb was 35 feet from the Murrah Building. There is no way Tim McVeigh, alone, did that damage. The Creator's laws of physics prevent such from happening. To wit, the brisance wave is too slow from 35 feet away to cut reinforced concrete.

Now that you are plumb scared about the OKLAHOMA CITY "bomb" and the 25 tons of fertilizer being stolen, let us progress as your faithful retired J.C.S. Action Officer "inspector" goes to BRUCETON MILLS, WEST VIRGINIA, a few weeks later.

Since WEST VIRGINIA is my beat, I drove the 240 miles and showed the CO-OP employees my three federal I.D. cards. Within minutes two employees admitted it was actually a "book keeping error". No fertilizer was ever stolen.

Folks, this is how they work to scare the daylights out of you. It was all a lie to make you give up your rights, guns, and Bibles; and getting your guns and bibles is their final goal. Your ride to a concentration camp will follow shortly after the people lose their guns. Friend, do not argue with me. It is being planned as I type these very words.

A political assassination they are <u>now planning</u> will bring this to pass.

Maybe you have not yet connected what Belafonte said with what I have written above?

Harry Belafonte may be elderly and liberal but he has put two and two together over the last few years.

To wit, two once-Communist "head hunters": Yevgeni Primakov, ex-K.G.B. boss; and Marcus Wolf, ex-East German Secret Police [S.T.A.S.S.I.] Chief, are working in the employ of Michael Chertoff, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (D.H.S.).

Why? Federal employees take an oath to the Constitution and thus would not perform properly in such treasonous activities. Wake up Americans.

Are you getting the picture yet?

We have a "shadow government" running the country.

Belafonte is right and my Jewish friends should make aliyah to ISRAEL now.

Furthermore, their treason is revealed in the book, "America Sold Out: The coming persecution and complacency of the Church" by Ray Hope and myself; and the Prophecy Club videos "Straight from the Joint Chiefs", and "Black Operations and Prophecy", as well as the D.V.D. "I AM vs. the New World Order". The importance of a Home Security Alarm

Homeland securitization has been given so much importance over the past few years that we have almost forgotten the importance of our own house and the importance of a good home security alarm. While burglary in your property may not make the headlines, it is in your best interest to safeguard property by installing a good home security alarm.

According to the US bureau of Justice Statistics there were 14 million incidents of theft on property and in 83% incidents the burglars had entered the house or building located in the property. You might feel safe by locking your doors and windows but there are ways to enter a house known only to people who commit burglary for living. Burglars always strike by surprise; to underestimate their resourcefulness would be a mistake you would not want to make at any cost.

There are many types of home security alarm, which can help you effectively protect a property, belongings and more importantly your family from burglars. Home security alarm is one of the more trusted methods to protect your house from burglars; a simple home security alarm generally makes a loud sound or dials a number like 911, your cell phone or a neighbor and sends a pre recorded distress message. Some systems connect themselves with the smoke alarms which notify the fire department immediately. Then there is also the monitored house securitizing systems which are considered the safest of all and the local systems which are considered safer than monitored property securitizing systems, yet cheaper.

Many securitizing systems come with a sign board that can be mounted on the door, mailbox or anywhere else where they can be noticed. Burglars generally target un-protected houses and leave alone the houses protected by any type of home security alarm. As for starters, the cheapest home security alarm is the "do it yourself" systems, you need to do all the installation and setup yourself, but if you are on a budget these are the right ones for you. A home security alarm not only helps in preventing burglary but it also helps in minimizing the loss in case the burglars break into a house because they fear a backup or the sound which might alert the neighbors or the police.

Home & Business Security & Surveillance

http://www.thesecuritywarehouse.com

I have done a lot of research in the security field over the years and have found that the customer knows best in most cases. Security systems have evolved into something much more than just an alarm. You now can have cameras with pan, tilt, and zoom capabilities linked to your security system and when it sees movement it signals an outside alarm with strobes to scare off introders. Or, how about linking your home automation system to your security system so that whenever a light turns on and you're not home, a signal is sent. Things like this are just some of what this industry has evolved into. The sort of imaginary line linking everything together!

In most cases their are complete systems that are so easy to install, that the end user can cut out the middle man. With people not having to crawl attics anymore to run wire, there really is no need for the security company. We're in a sort of lick and stick era, where essential you do just that. There are so many systems that can be installed by the end user that it's not really fair to the alarm companies anymore. At http://www.thesecuritywarehouse.com I have assembled packages that can be stuck on the wall and up and running in less than 15 minutes. Wireless is our friend, and with wireless security systems, surveillance systems, hidden cameras, driveway alarms, or single cameras, it's just to easy to say no to the sales rep. because you know you can do it yourself! http://www.thesecuritywarehouse.com has everything you need for your home or business security & surveillance systems!

My name is Jesse D'Anna and have worked in the alarm industry for about 25 years now. I have seen a lot of change throughout my years, however, the change from hardwired systems to wireless systems has been the biggest over that span. Today's industry is swamped with people who think they know a lot about their profession. However, the one thing I've seen throughout my years in the field is that the cus
